Baby Happenings - January 2, 2009

Well, as I had teased at the end of my last post, my sister had her baby yesterday. I did get some pictures from my dad via email, so I'll share a couple of those here.

Elizabeth is off of the ventilator and breathing on her own now, which is good. Sara said that the doctors told her that the baby is doing everything they would expect - not spectacular or poor, but well enough. She may not have to stay in the hospital until her "due" date if she continues to do well, which will be good for Sara and Joe, since they're going to have to be spending a lot of time driving back and forth and in the NICU over the next several weeks.

Sam and Adam stopped by our house yesterday on their way through from Chicago back to their house in Dublin, so we got to see them and McKenzie.

McKenzie is just over 9 months old now, but looks like a peanut compared to Clark the Truck! I think Sam said she weighs 14lbs 10oz, compared to Clark's 16lbs 4oz (as of Dec 16), and he certainly looks that much thicker than her. Unlike Clark though, McKenzie is clapping, waving bye-bye and climbing up at every opportunity. Clark was fascinated watching her move around, and we think that may have inspired him to finally get over the hump and roll over last night! Katie went up to check on him around 11pm when he was crying, and called me up because he was half-way over, and we got to see him roll over for the first time, which was pretty neat. It's hard to picture Clark being mobile and crawling around everywhere, but it won't be too long before he's there. Hope we're ready for it.

Last night Katie and I decided we would make a day trip over to Columbus today to see the new addition to the Aiello family, so we packed up this morning and took Clark over to Greenfield, where his other aunt Sara was kind enough to watch him while we ventured back to the buckeye state for the day. We got to Mount Carmel East around 12:30pm and visited for a little over an hour. We did get to see Elizabeth briefly, and Sara looks like she's doing great, so we're really happy for that. We didn't stay long, and headed back to Indiana a little after 2pm to come back and rescue Clark and Chewie, who were no doubt distraught at being in a different state from us all day! We had dinner with Tom & Sara before coming home, and I grabbed a quick picture of Tessa and Josie on the couch after not taking any pictures at all during our trip to Ohio for the day.

I think we're going to go back over to Greenfield tomorrow to help Tom & Sara with their kitchen renovation project. Better find my painting clothes!
