Dr.'s Appointment - July 10, 2008

This morning we had our 29 week check up. We met with another new doctor, Dr. Martin, who we liked a lot. Jason thinks she is his favorite of the four we have met, I am not sure who my favorite is, but Dr. Martin was really nice and answered all of our questions. I am still measuring right on track size wise, and had only gained 2 pounds since my appointment two weeks ago, so that is pretty average I think, about a pound a week. I also have low blood pressure, 111/70, which they are always pleased to see. I think I get that from my Mom! We heard the heart beat again and everything still looks perfect. The neatest part of this visit was that they told us what position the baby is in. Right now he is resting just right with his head down facing my back. I had been wondering what part of him kept pushing against my belly so hard, turns out it is his tiny rear end!

Here is a pretty good diagram of how he is positioned:

The only other thing we found out at this appointment is that I am not at risk for gestational diabetes. When they do the glucose screening test any score between 140 and 200 means that you'll have to take the three-hour glucose tolerance test for a definite diagnosis, I had a score of 101(yay!).

Tonight we have our second childbirth education class, hopefully we will get a little more useful information than we did last week. The instructor did mention something about teaching the husbands some massage techniques, so I would think that would have to be good! Then on Friday we are off to Cincinnati for a weekend of fun with our friends. The guys have been planning a very manly weekend filled with video games, beer and poker, and the girls will probably be shopping, making over baby McKenzie, and maybe doing some baking if the guys are nice to us.
