We landed in Denver at 7:30am Mountain Time on Saturday, and went out later that day to hike in the El Dorado Springs state park.
On Sunday after church, Katie took advantage of Amy's hair styling skill and in-house salon to get a style upgrade while Joe and I played tennis in the beautiful weather.
Monday was the highlight of the trip (for me anyway), when we headed into downtown Denver to watch the Steelers play the Broncos on Monday Night Football. I love attending Steeler games in person, because there's nothing like the collective emotions of the fans in the stadium. I also really like getting to watch the entire field as plays develop, and not being restricted to the televised view. It was unbelievable how many Steeler fans were in attendance for the game. We got there about two and a half hours before kickoff, and you would have been hard pressed to tell that it was a Denver home game by the amount of Steeler tailgating that was going on.
We had good seats at about the 25 yard line behind the visitors sideline in the upper deck. I'm glad we picked up our tickets before the season started because no one expected Denver to be any good. Since they started out 6-1 the ticket price jumped way up, and seats in our section were going for $80-100 more per ticket than what we paid!
And of course what kind of game would it be without a brat and beer?
We flew back to Indy on Tuesday and Katie was eager to get over to Ohio to see Clark after being away from him for almost 5 days - by far the longest amount of time they've been separated since he was born. After spending a few days visiting she made her way back here yesterday by way of Cincinnati and a baby shower for our friends Ryan and Jess.
Clark had fun with the toys and his friend McKenzie at the shower too.
Hopefully we'll get back into a groove this week with everybody home, in our own beds, and on a normal schedule. It was fun to travel, but it's always great to be home.
