Sick Baby - September 8, 2009

We had no plans for this holiday weekend, which ended up being a good thing as Clark has been battling a fever all weekend. On Saturday we headed over to Greenfield to watch the OSU game with Tom, Sara and the girls. Clark was pretty much his normal self there for most of the time, but he had a hard time napping there and woke up pretty grumpy so we headed for home instead of hanging out there for the evening. Once we got home we both thought he felt a little warm so we gave him some Tylenol. He went to bed pretty early and was up a few times that night.
On Sunday he pretty much snuggled with us on the couch all day and was definitely not his usual very busy self. We enjoyed the snuggling, but felt so bad for our little boy. It is hard to see your baby sick like that and we have felt fortunate that this is really the first time that he has been ill. We called the doctor when his temperature spiked up to 102.7 and the Tylenol didn't seem to be bringing it down, but as he had no other symptoms and was still drinking plenty of fluids she just suggested alternating the Tylenol with Ibuprofen. On Monday he was still pretty lethargic in the morning, but had perked up by the afternoon.
This morning he woke up around 5 and took his bottle and slept on me until about 7, but after another dose of Ibuprofen he perked up and ate a good breakfast and played for a while. He is napping now, so I hope he will continue to feel better today.

Unfortunately we saw this face an awful lot this weekend.
