We went back to Ohio last weekend (the 16th-18th) for my sister Sara's wedding. I basically had a half-day on that Thursday, because my company did a big volunteer event thing, and I worked the morning and my boss gave us the afternoon off. So we headed over on Thursday afternoon and stayed with Vic and Barb that night. On Friday I went out and played golf with Vic and really played well for my first time out, shooting 74 with a 1-under 35 on the back nine. Katie and her mom got a pedicure that afternoon before we made our way to New Lexington for the rehearsal and then to Lancaster for the dinner and to stay at my mom's. Saturday morning Katie helped my mom out with a bridesmaid breakfast. I killed time by visiting at Valley View and taking Chewie on a long walk. The wedding itself was nice, and we had a good time at the reception too, getting to visit with a lot of people that we don't see very often. Unfortunately we didn't get a whole lot of pictures, but here's one of me with my new brother-in-law.
On Sunday I played golf with Michael Piolata while Katie helped out with the reception clean-up (good deal for me, eh?).
There really wasn't anything too interesting about this past work week. This weekend has been pretty busy though. We went over to Tom & Sara's on Friday for a Joyner Homes company picnic. I guess it was also sort of a celebration that they'd closed on their land and everything, and are ready to start prepping the land and get building. On Saturday I played golf with Tom while Katie drove to Cincinnati to try on a bridesmaid dress for Meghann Grindrod's wedding. On Sunday Vic and Barb came over and I played 9 holes with Vic before we all went out to a nice outdoor lunch at Rick's Cafe Boatyard. Later on, Katie and I went out and bought some flowers, shrubs and mulch, which were the supplies for most of today's projects. I tore out all the plants in the front of the house and replaced them with boxwood bushes in an attempt to get a little uniformity. For the sidewalk leading up to the front door Katie planted some impatiens. Here are a couple pictures of what we did.
So now most of what is left on Katie's latest "list of things to do" is to get ready for vacation. We leave early Wednesday morning for Key West, and we're both looking forward to getting away and just relaxing for a while. The weather forecast for Key West says mid 80s with a chance of rain every day, but it'll probably just be random pop-up thunderstorms so even if they do occur, we'll just go in and take a nap, then come back out to the hammocks when it's nice again!
